Ode to Sterling Page!

Sterling page, I have to say... THANK YOU. Now you maybe wondering who Sterling page is, and truth be known, He'll probably never ever never read this, but I owe him an awful lot right now. Here is the story of why.

A number of years ago, while preparing for my Mission to Toronto, I worked for a guy named Sterling Page. He was building a house and he needed a little help with pretty much the crap work on the site. His wife worked with my mom, and got wind that I could use a little cash for the mission. so I was asked to show up at the worksite the next day to go to work. I help this old chap that he had building his home. We started with the concrete, and I worked on that house all the way through the framing and roofing. At this point, most of the work was turned over to Subs and my role was done. But Sterling liked how I worked enough that he took me to work with him.

Sterling was a worked for a company that did Gas line in a bunch of new construction in the TC's. So I learned a bit of a trade. For a few months I did an awful lot of gas pipe in a lot of houses. While the most important thing I learned was that I wanted to finish school and not make a living at construction, I'm glad I picked up a little basic construction experience. And it came in really handy this week.

Yesterday morning, my wife smelled gas in our utility room.. I couldn't but I did smell it outside at the meter. SO!! We called out the gas company to report the smell and they sent out someone to check it out. Sure enough we had a bunk pressure regulator that was leaking, and there were to leaks outside. One was on the Gas company side of the meter, so they fixed it. but it left me with the inside, and the other leak outside. :(
So we called the plumber that piped the house hoping it would be warranteed. It wasn't!! In fact, it was going to be almost $700 in labor and parts. ARG!!! So I decided to try it out myself and see if I could handle the damage. understanding the the problem could be fixed with a new regulator and basically resealing the leaky joints, I figured I could do it. (Lee was pretty sure, but willing to admit that a few of my neighbors might be able to help.... if I needed it, not that she thought I would... but they could....)

I went to the plumbing supply and bought the $43 part, some pipe dope (sealer glue), and a few pipe wrenchs. Grand total $70 and I fixed the problem.

Now you understand the ODE to Sterling! Thanks man!

A Message to Share

Please remember, that these are not my words, but those of another. Huntley Brown and Christian Musician who shared his reasons for how he will vote. Please understand that he is not speaking for God, Christians in general, or the Scriptures. Mr. Briown is not even asking people to vote for McCain. These are Mr. Brown's words regarding Senator Obama. As opposed to coping hes words here and try to format it neatly, please follow the link and take a minute to read the lengthy and well thought out words.

Why I Can't Vote For Obama

I can't vote for him..!

If he can not condemn this type of support, how can he condemn any radical extremists. You can't leader a nation when all of your friends HATE that nation as it stands.

Last time I read the good word, Alpha Omega referred to God.

I remember reading about stuff like this in History class. but it was about a religious like following of one Adolf Hilter. Brainwash the youth and they will follow you to the end of the earth, or the end of their nation and lives.
